Welcome to 2021! We hope you’re just as excited as we are to bid good-bye to 2020! And yes, while it was a tough year, some positive things did come out of it. For instance, it seemed like everyone got used to technology. We also realized how important friends and family are in our lives. For those who are athletes, we now have pent up energy for the year ahead in sports. Last year, we saw lots of virtual races. But guess what? 2021 in sports means that we’re all going to be hanging with each other again!

So, let’s take a look at the sports events, changes, and things we’re all ready to see in 2021!

2021 olympics

What’s Happening in 2021 in Sports?

1. Tokyo Olympic Games—How Fast Will July Come?

The world needs a lot of TLC after 2020. Initially scheduled for last year, the most prominent global sports event is the Tokyo Olympics. Don’t know about you, but we think the Olympics are awesome. It’s an opportunity for the world and its people to come together in the spirit of competition. So, get ready on July 23, 2021, to tune into Tokyo and check out the 41 sporting events happening. 339 medal events will happen, which means there’s plenty to see.

2. Get Ready for Some Sports Marathon Racing

Although the world’s oldest marathon, the Boston Marathon, isn’t happening on Patriot’s Day, there’s plenty of reason to think that by Fall 2021, it’s a go for in-person sports events. Marathon races are great, and in 2020, millions still ran them as virtual races. However, we expect that with millions vaccinated as the year progresses, we’re going to have the chance to get back to running (you know, together). So, if you’re ready to hit the pavement, as are the two marathoners on our team, all you have to do is check out this marathon schedule.

Fitness at home.

3. Sports Fitness Evolves Indoors, Outdoors, and Home

Last year, with stay-at-home orders, many gym doors closed. As a result, it meant that sports fitness coaches had to reinvent their offerings. People still wanted to stay healthy and in shape. Of course, they turned to technology and some of the best fitness apps, websites like My Fit Station, and also sports coaches. In short, 2021 in sports brings health on-demand. No longer do people feel restricted to only going to the gym or taking a run. Now, they could work out at home, at the gym, on the road, or from anywhere. In other words, sports fitness is accessible anywhere and at any time, mostly because of technology.

4. Get Yourself a New Pair of Carbon-Plated Running Sneakers

There’s no better way to step into 2021 in sports for yourself than treating yourself to a new pair of sneakers. How about carbon-plated athletic shoes? You might want to consider giving them a try this year. Originated by Nike, the sneakers grew in popularity last year. The carbon’s placed mid-sole. And runners using these kinds of athletic shoes have experienced benefits. For instance, some studies attribute the sneakers to improved performance. Other studies on carbon-plated sneakers suggest that the shoes could also help prevent injuries.

Cleaning at the gym.

5. Clean Gym With a Broader Offering in Sports and Wellness

Finally, as people return to sports gyms, hygiene takes on an unprecedented priority. As people get vaccinated, everyone wants to exercise and remain safe. Therefore, gyms have to offer a high standard of hygiene to attract members again. But, because people now could use technology and other solutions for remaining healthy, gyms have to expand their offerings. 2020 was all about staying healthy. People want to stay fit and healthy. So, gyms have to shift from thinking it’s about equipment to offering programs and efforts for overall health and well-being. For instance, they could provide nutrition, yoga, meditation, etc.

We’re sure that everyone’s ready to get back to socializing and being around people. This year, it will mean that people will travel to Tokyo, run road races together again, and head back to the gym and wellness centers. Humans are naturally social beings. And it’s great that as the months progress, things will improve, and we’ll have the chance to share our sports events together, and in-person, again!
