Why an Obstacle Course for Team Fundraising?

Team Sneakers4Good

Any team fundraising event could be significant if it happens for a good cause. In 2021, our partner, Jenna, and her husband collected sneakers at a Warrior Dash Mud Run in Ohio. The reason was exceptional because they needed to raise funds for medical care for his mother. However, this is one story of how anything’s possible when you use sneakers for good.

Let’s say you’re a team, sports club, or group member. And let’s further assume that you want to make a difference. (Most people do!). Have you ever considered doing a team fundraising event at a marathon, mud run, or obstacle course race? Think what a fun way to get your community involved!

A mud run obstacle course challenges participants to run, crawl, balance, and climb through muddy and jungle-like terrain. These events get held all over the country in cities big and small because they’re a great way to raise money. Keep reading if you’ve been considering starting a team fundraising event but aren’t.

What’s an obstacle course fundraiser?

An obstacle course fundraiser is any event or activity to raise money for a cause. It could take the form of a walk, run, bike ride, or even a mud run. The main idea is to get people excited enough about the fundraiser that they’re willing to donate to your cause. Moreover, deciding on a sneaker fundraiser at a sports event is a great way to get people excited about exercising while also raising money for a good cause. The reality is that your fundraiser can help a person, just as Jenna’s did with her husband, or it could benefit your team for equipment, competitive travel, and races. Still, a team fundraising event can be fun for everyone involved!

3 reasons why it can be great for your team

There are many different reasons why hosting an obstacle course fundraising event can be successful. Let’s talk about why they’re such a great fundraising opportunity.

  1. First and foremost, an obstacle course can get created for people of all ages and fitness levels. You could develop a course for kids by gender, age, athletic ability, and even for people with disabilities. In short, you don’t have to be an elite athlete to complete an obstacle. By being open and broad for your course, you invite more people to your team fundraising event.
  2. An obstacle course is also a ton of fun. It’s a great way to motivate people to participate in physical activity while supporting a cause. Moreover, these are significant events to engage families. As we mentioned earlier, even the little ones can participate (and get away from the mobile screens). The idea is to have fun and a party as you do your team fundraiser.
  3. Let’s face it; our planet requires a lot of help. People have to learn to recycle their sneakers. We have to limit what goes into landfills and repurpose and reuse things. So, imagine collecting sneakers—and achieving those goals during your team fundraising event! A sneaker fundraiser also provides a great way to inform people about sustainability and philanthropy.
